Woop Woop is an imaginary Australian town in the middle of nowhere. It's a useful expression in a big country where roughly 80% of all people live within 100 kms (60 miles) of the coastline. Put another way, this means 20% of Australians are a great distance from important services and facilities, such as specialist medical treatments, business services or other essentials.
Just one of the important determinants of a healthy community is the number of opportunities for social interaction. For me, this might mean travelling ten minutes or an hour to visit someone, or to see a live show.
For some people living in the outback, an opportunity for social interaction might mean having a conversation with someone new for the first time in weeks, or even just having any conversation at all for the first time in weeks.
