ABORIGINAL APPROACHES TO TALKING. One last word

As polite people, Aboriginals are happy to let people repeat what others have just said, or ramble when something serious is being discussed. In a five minute discussion five people might all say exactly the same thing, whereas whitefellas would be more impatient and say "I agree". On the other hand, Aboriginals might have a different attitude when whitefellas get started on serious Aboriginal issues.
One Aboriginal Health Coordinator prefaced a report with the following heading:


The Pitjantjatjara word for ‘talk’ is ‘wangka’.
